Now that summer is in full swing it’s time to dive into all the new summer shoe trends. This year it’s defiantly time to break away from your basic flip flops and try something new. This new “A Guide to” series will follow new and upcoming trends in the fashion world. If you’re anything like me, completely and totally obsessed with shoes, you’ll defiantly want to keep reading!
Over the past few months, I have seen mules everywhere! They are such a staple piece in any girls wardrobe. With a basic heel and a peep toe, this shoe is perfect for any occasion. Some of my favorites are theSteve Madden Dalis Slide Sandals. These shoes come in three different colors, including a basic black and nude. For a more simple everyday pair, go for a flat version. Flats are the best way to be comfortable, while still being trendy. TheNew Look Suede Flat Mules from ASOS.com are simple and inexpensive. So we all have our dream pair of shoes that are just a bit out of our reach. Mine are the rag & bone Elliot Mules. Even though these shoes are, well very out of my price range, I still dare to dream about them.
Yes, typically we stray away from close toed shoes for the summer, but I can never resist a good pair of white sneakers. My OG pair of sneakers, that look great with pretty much every outfit are the Nike Air Force 1’s. These sneakers will last you a life time, I’m convinced they will never go out of style. My next summer sneaker staple are a pair of shoes I never thought I’d fall in love with. A combination of espadrilles and sneakers, a match made in heaven. This trend is huge this summer and combines two of the most classic summer shoes. The Marc Fisher Mandi Espadrille Lace Up Sneakers are the perfect summer shoe. Bonus: these shoes are on sale at Bloomingdalesfor (40% off!). Heads will defiantly turn when you’re wearing these sneakers. Next, lets take it back to a time where all we wanted wear velcro shoes. I must say, when I wear these shoes I feel like a kid again. Now I know velcro shoes aren’t everyones style, but how can you resist a simple shoe like the Vans White Twillsneaker. These shoes are extremely comfortable and perfect for any occasion. And trust me, no laces is a huge plus.
Ankle strap sandals are the best shoes for something a bit more fancy on a summer night. These shoes are simple and easy to wear on any occasion. For a night out look to try the Steve Madden Carrson Sandal. With a variety of different colors you’ll be able to find a pair that best fit your night. For a more day time appropriate look, go for a lower block heel. TheLulu’s Harper Black Suede Ankle Strap Heelscome in all your go to neutral colors. Both of these ankle strap sandals will bring your summer look to a more classy and elegant level.
This style of shoe might not seem as cool to everyone as they are to me. I am totally obsessed with platform sandals. They are so conformable, while also giving you some height. These shoes are perfect for any casual day and are perfect for walking around. Nasty Gal’s Love on Top Platform Sandals are pretty much the best of both worlds, height, and comfort. To stand out even more try the MIA Platform Sandal. These metallic sandals will honestly just be super fun to wear with any outfit!
Now that we’ve completely run through all the latest trendy shoes for summer 2017, it’s time for you to go out and try these new styles, you won’t believe how good you’re going to look!
How does one describe a place like New York? I like to think of it as my future home, the mecca of the fashion industry, oh and of course home of some of the most kick ass pizzas. But all the glitz, glamor, and gossip girl aside, the big apple has to be on your list of major cities to visit. My top three favorite things to do while in the city definitely revolve around fashion, museums, and food. But trust me, theres over a million things to do in the city that never sleeps.
If you’re anything like me, fashion is one way you get to express yourself. And what better way to express yourself than on the streets of New York. Going to NYFW can be a bit extravagant and expensive, but if you’re looking to fulfill a fashion craving walking down 5th ave or going into a few fashion museums is the best way to get your fix.
From the steps of the MET to MOMA, any type of art that you’re dying to see you’ll be able to find in the city. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is definitely one of New York’s classics.
It’s all about the eats when your strolling through New York. With so many options on every corner it’s always hard to find out what you’re in the mood to try. One thing everyone has to do is make sure to find a place thats fun. You’ll never believe how many trendy restaurants and food carts pop up!
Hello from the beach! The best time of the year has come and that means it’s time to hit up the beach. Yesterday was the perfect beach day, 93 and sunny! The best way to get the most out of a great beach day is to plan the perfect beach bag. You’ll need all your essentials; towels, sunscreen, sunnies, beach chairs, and you can’t forget to hydrate. Get ready babes, the beach waits for no one!
The best way to feel like a kid in a candy store is to go to the happiest place on earth. This past week I traveled Orlando, Florida to visit Disney World. Whether you’re headed to Magic Kingdom or any theme park this summer, you’ll need to know what to wear to stay cool and comfy. These outfits from my week in Florida will defiantly give you inspiration to ditch the pool for the day and hit your local theme park.
Now that schools out, summer fun can begin! Going away on a little summer vacation is something all of us need. Whether it’s with the fam, your besties, or bae a little travel never hurt anyone. The first and most important part of traveling is what to put in your suitcase. These are my ultimate travel essentials that I won’t leave the house with.
First things first: shoes! Obviously for a shoe lover like me, its always hard to narrow down what shoes to bring. No matter what type if vacation your going on you’re definitely going to need a pair of heels and flats.
For the spring and summer the best way to stay comfortable is wearing lightweight clothing. These items are also the perfect pieces to pack in your suitcase. Easy to fold up, and doesn’t take up a lot of space. A statement dress is an essential in your suitcase. Wrap dresses are a new trend that is popping up in every store. Perfect for any occasion, special dinner out, or if you’re just feeling fun and flirty. If a casual look is more your style, a simple tank top and statement flowy shorts is definitely the way to go.
If you’re going somewhere warm, a swimsuit is something you can’t forget. A simple top with a fun bottom is always my go to. This also makes it’s much easier to mix and match your suits, because lets be honest none of us own a full swimsuit set is all about mixing and matching. Use my code “Natalie” at Bikinilux.com to save 10% on your next order.
Sunnies, books, and polaroids oh my! Accessories are the best part of packing for your trip. One pair of fun sunglasses and one pair of standard is always the best way to be prepared for any look you’re trying to create. A baseball hat is always a must, especially if you’re going on a beach vacay. If your trip is with your best girlfriends bring a polaroid camera along to capture every moment. And lastly, being on vacation is the best way to get some down time. Whether you’re traveling by plane, or relaxing on a beach reading a book is the best way to keep yourself occupied.
Ok ladies, summer is about to be in full swing which means it’s time to get our beauty regime down pat. Summer is all about the ‘no makeup’ makeup look, which let’s be honest Kim K has this on lock. This look is perfect for a day on the beach or Sunday brunch with your besties. But before you can achieve this look, you’ve got to make sure your skin is clear and healthy. Skin care is my number one favorite part of my beauty routine. When your skin is healthy and radiant it can make your day ten times better. The best part about a summer look is being able to feel confident in your own skin with or without makeup
On a day to day basis it is key to wash your face twice, once in the morning and once at night before bed. My go to morning face wash is the Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser. This cleanser is a natural morning boost that will wake you right up. This foaming cleanser is oil free and hypoallergenic, perfect for all you sensitive skin girls. Not only does this product give you an even skin tone, it also helps prevent breakouts, which let’s be honest is probably the most important part. Personally, this cleanser has been in my collection for years, and it is a product that I always find myself reaching for in the morning.
After a long day of classes, endless drama with friends, boyfriends troubles, or whatever else made your day a living hell, the most relaxing thing to do is swipe off your makeup, unhook your bra, and settle into some much needed R&R. At the end of the night when it comes to washing your face I always reach for my St. Ives Green Tea Scrub. To be frank, this scrub gets rid of all the sh*t on your face from the day. This scrub is specific for clearing blackheads and calming redness in your face. It is also a natural and cooling exfoliant that leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. My favorite way to use this scrub is in the shower. The steam from the hot water is the best way to open up your pores and make sure you’re reaching every nook and cranny.
Oh! And how could I forget the most important part of a skin care routine…moisturize moisturize moisturize! Making sure your skin is moisturized is probably one of the most important steps to getting a dewy summer glow. And I know you girls who have oily skin want to completely avoid this step at all costs, but trust me its defiantly a necessity!
Now that we’ve covered a daily skincare routine, it’s time to get into specific treatments. Spot treatments and face masks are what I live for. They are the best way to target specific problems you have with your skin.
For spot treatments I love the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. This product is the magic eraser for all your blemishes. With ingredients including Salicylic acid (a pimples worst nightmare) and calamine this spot treatment will literally have your pimple reduced in size by the next morning. Put a dot of treatment on your face before bed and go to sleep knowing you’re about to look in the mirror in the morning and say “I woke up like this.”
As for face masks, these can be done on weekly basis. The Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask is my favorite. It is a clarifying and deep cleansing mask that will visibly make your skin look radiant. This mask can be used for all skin types and can improve dull skin tone, oiliness, and enlarged pores.
One more little skin care tip is having a bomb lip scrub. The Lush Mint Julip Lip Scrub is the best way to get rid of dry and flakey lips because seriously, we’re all looking for a summer hook up and no one wants to kiss lips that aren’t soft and smooth.
Now on to the fun part! The glitz and glamor. And by glitz and glamor I mean pilling on pounds of makeup to make it seem like your face just naturally glistens in the sunlight.
Priming your face with a radiant base is the best way to prep your face for your summer look. The Mac Prep + Prime Natural Radiance primer will control the oil on your face and keep your skin soft and smooth.
For foundation and concealer, to stick with the ‘no makeup’ makeup look, it’s always best to steer towards a lighter coverage. Picking a BB cream like the Maybelline Dream Pure paired with the Tarte Shape Tape concealer will give a light/medium coverage. If your skin is on the oily side, you might want to swipe on a translucent powder to set your face.
If you’re in the mood to throw on some eye shadow, a light shimmery color is defiantly the way to go. The Taretlette 2 In Bloom eyeshadow palette has the perfect neutral shades. For the lazy girls like me, a quick swipe of mascara will do the trick. Eyebrows however, are a must, always fill in those bad boys.
Highlighting is NOT debatable. We all need this product as a form of survival. For an even more dewy look a liquid highlighter will make you glow like a goddess. For a subtler look, a cream or powder highlight can be used.
And finally for a soft lip look, using a tinted lip balm will work best for adding a bit of color, while also keeping hydrated.
Honestly it’s so hard being a girl but having quick and easy ways to take care of your skin and throw on makeup is a lazy girls guide to survival.
